Author Topic: Atari 2600 Slot Racers (gold text label cartridge)  (Read 36 times)

I have just added the following entry:
https://vgcollect.com/item/298193

I have found a fair handful of references to this release online, though I have been unable to find a copy pictured with its box. I entered the item number as CX2606, as that seems to be the standard for Atari-published 2600 games, though I cannot be certain without a positively-associated box photo. The item number of the cartridge is CX-2606. The hyphen seems to be present on all of my Atari-published text label games, though none of the existing entries that I have checked mention this in the description, so I elected to omit it as well in the name of conformity. If this is not currently preferred, please let me know and I will ensure any future entries that I make are correct.

If there are any errors or undesirable components to this entry, please let me know. I have spent a fair amount of time reading the style guides, but it's not out of the question that I missed or forgot something, and I would like to avoid errors in the future, especially on new listings.

With the information that's known to us, 298193 is fine as it is regarding its Name field. I've only been able to find one market listing for a boxed copy of the game including this cartridge variant, but one instance is not enough declare fact. However, we can keep this single instance in mind for when someone wants to inspect used listings again in the future once more have been added. Of course, obtaining enough information to when we're actually able to update the entry may take months or years, but that's just how information-gathering is with vintage items like these if the goal is to be accurate. Be that as it may, you may find it in your interest to save the listing images—that is, if you actually have an interest in updating the entry or knowing which box the loose cartridge you own was originally packaged in—to reference later.

As it stands, I've already updated the Description field. The Item Number field may need updating too since there's likely a space between the alpha and numeric characters (i.e. CX 2606, not CX2606), but that update should only be made when we're able to confirm exactly how such information is formatted on the outer packaging that relates to this specific cartridge variant.
